There’s a special sense of fulfillment that happens when people come together to celebrate plants, community, and the joy of growing food. This fall, Clearwater Community Gardens is inviting you to experience our biannual event–the Fall Plant Sale, happening Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at 1277 Grove Street in Clearwater.
This is no ordinary sale—it’s the largest edible plant sale in Pinellas County, with more than 1,000 plants ready to find their new homes. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting your first herb pot on the windowsill, this event is designed to inspire, educate, and connect people who love the simple joy of growing things.
A Plant for Everyone
Visitors will find an incredible variety to choose from, including:
- Vegetable starts – perfect for kickstarting your fall garden.
- Culinary herbs – from basil to rosemary, these kitchen staples will brighten up your meals.
- Medicinal plants – discover natural remedies and healing traditions.
- Flowering plants – to add beauty and pollinator-friendly color to your garden.
- Houseplants – ideal for bringing a little green indoors.
Many of the plants are Florida-friendly or native species, making them easy to grow in our local climate.
Local Honey and More
And the plants are just the beginning. The Gardens will also have a limited supply of award-winning local honey harvested from their very own beehives. If you’ve ever tasted it, you know how special it is—sweet, pure, and straight from the hive. But here’s the catch: supplies are limited, so you’ll want to come early to snag a jar.
Beyond honey and plants, you’ll also enjoy:
- Guided garden tours – learn about sustainable gardening practices and the vision behind Clearwater Community Gardens.
- A butterfly release – a joyful celebration of nature that delights both kids and adults.
- A raffle with exciting prizes – from garden goodies to local treasures.
More Than a Sale—It’s a Tradition
“This is one of our favorite community events,” says Amy Lidman, our Event Coordinator at CCG. “It’s more than just a plant sale—it’s where people in our community who are interested in growing their own food and herbal remedies gather to connect with nature, learn about and support a sustainable community here in Clearwater.”
And that’s really what makes this event so special. It’s not just about buying a plant—it’s about joining a tradition. For years, the Fall Plant Sale has been a Downtown Gateway favorite, a chance for neighbors to meet, share stories, and learn from one another.
Supporting a Greener Future
Every plant purchased, every jar of honey sold, and every raffle ticket bought goes directly to supporting the mission of Clearwater Community Gardens. As a volunteer-run nonprofit, CCG is dedicated to cultivating a thriving, sustainable green space that promotes learning, environmental stewardship, and community connection.
So mark your calendar, bring your friends, and get ready to dig into a weekend full of plants, community, and fun. Whether you leave with a handful of herbs, a flowering plant, or just a jar of honey, you’ll walk away knowing you’ve supported something truly special right here in Clearwater.
